On Beyond Zebra

One of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, where new exotic letters are proposed to be added to the existing alphabet.

Each letter in this ambigram is inspired in some way by the unusual glyphs from the book.

Life and Death

The ‘Life / Death’ combination is a popular target for ambigram designers. The most notable (and first?) example is Method Man’s tattoo:

A while back I did a ‘left/right’ ambigram taking advantage of the fact that ‘right’ has twice the amount of vertical lines of ‘left’. This is also the case with ‘life/death’. The MM tattoo almost makes use of this, so I tweaked the layout and this is the end result.

Fool the Eye

A fairly straightforward reflection. I wouldn’t be suprised if this has already been done before, though.

Apostrophe

An ‘apostrophe’ attempt. Still needs some tweaking. In many frustrating cases, one letter can spoil a near-natural ambigram- in this example, it’s the pesky ‘H’. Maybe a different style could accomodate this better.
